“Shall I take a picture of You” — She came up to me with that lovely smile of hers….
It’s a Friday morning. And yes today is Good Friday. I woke up early and headed straight towards Newtown which is a planned satellite region of Kolkata.
I did not have my bike along with me so decided to go for the rental ones. Thus the hunt begins…
After searching for a while we finally got one near the Biswa Bangla gate.
I downloaded the app, recharged the wallet and went ahead to scan the QR code.
Initial attempts failed!! I waited for few seconds and tried again.
This time I kept my phone as close as possible towards the QR code.
And then the magic happened…
There was a “Click” sound and the bike unlocked.
The satisfaction that I got! It’s like unlocking treasure…
I checked the breaks. They were in good condition and yes we had a bell.
‘Cling Cling !!’ — Rang it twice and our exploration began….
The lanes were shaded with trees… It just felt amazing…
While still on my journey I stopped near a place. I came across these beautiful vibrant flowers growing and hanging from the wild bushes…
I parked my bike at the side of the pavement and captured the essence of the place
I decided to take a selfie. While I was taking pictures I saw a couple walking by and to my surprise the lady walked up to me and said “ Do you want me to take a picture of yours?”
I smiled and said “Sure! I love this place… Thank you!”
Most of the cases people come by and ask “ Can you take a picture of me/us” . But here this lady walks up to me and did just the opposite….
I said to myself “ Isn’t that amazing”!
She said “The background is really pretty”
While talking to her I saw she was carrying something in her hand. It resembled like flower carved out of wood. I asked her “Where did you get these from?”
She smiled and said “Just picked them down the lane”.
I asked her “What’s your name?” She said “My nickname is Lisa and my good name is Mahesheta”.
I asked here “Where is your origin?”
She replied “ I am a Bengali. I live nearby. That’s my husband. He is half Bengali and half Goan.” (one of the parents is a native of Goa).
While she was talking her eyes gleamed and she was cheerful. I wanted to capture the moment that I shared with her…
I asked her “ Can I take a picture along with you?”
She said “Sure. I am really sweating though”. I captured the moment…
Before biding goodbye she gave me one of the the flowers. That touched me. She said “ Since you liked it!”
I said to myself “ Lady you just made my day”… “The thought that you had for me to share your treasure with me… That’s Beautiful”
I looked at her and smiled. She went along with her partner and I went ahead with my expedition!
That lovely smile of hers is still there in my mind
Little things… Makes a big difference :)
Friends would love to hear your thoughts… Feel free to share :)
Thank you :)
